1 14-ounce block extra-firm tofu, drained and pressed ½ cup all-purpose flour ½ cup panko breadcrumbs ¼ cup unsweetened plant-based milk such as soy or almond 1 tablespoon soy sauce 1 teaspoon garlic powder ½ teaspoon salt ¼ teaspoon black pepper Cooking spray or oil for air-fryer basket
Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch thick slices.
In a shallow bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
In another shallow bowl, whisk together plant-based milk and soy sauce.
Place panko breadcrumbs in a third shallow bowl.
Dredge each tofu slice in the flour mixture, then dip into the milk mixture, and finally coat evenly with panko breadcrumbs.
Lightly spray or brush the air-fryer basket with cooking oil.
Arrange the breaded tofu slices in a single layer in the air-fryer basket, leaving some space between them to ensure even cooking.
Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes, flipping the tofu slices halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as tonkatsu sauce or sweet chili sauce.
